How to make a Favicon using Sib.

Here's how to make yourself a Favicon using Sib Icon Editor.

Let's start with the end result, a 16x16 pixel icon.

Here's how to do it. First of all download Sib Icon Editor.

Install it and fire it up.
Choose a 16x16 icon.

Click on that 'T' for Text Box.

Here I am typing in 'GF' for Genuine Free.

Choose your font, and then text size depending on the font. Experiment a bit.

I have used Comic Sans and font size 8.
Note the borders. You can grab and drag to move or re-size.

Here I have done the same again with the 'SL' and have dragged it down and across.

Now I want an orange background. I choose my color here.

Then I want to color anything that is transparent to orange, so will I use this button to swap the colors.

Choose the Color Replacer.

Swap the colors and sweep with the Color Replacer. Orange background now.

Now the important thing is to save as a .png file NOT a .ico file.

So save as a .png file or .jpg file. Either is ok.

There's your favicon.
